Starting with the worst of the worst, Opus Energy have some bad ratings that we have dissected from our research, but what exactly are they doing wrong?
So, to begin, let’s talk about the most common complaint coming from Opus Energy customers. Well, the energy supplier seems to be pretty aggressive with their attitude to chasing payments.

One of the issues seems to be with energy bills to customers who have a landlord. Rather than chasing the landlords for outstanding bills, customers are being harassed by the Opus debt collection company.
Others have been threatened to pay for estimated bills which have been deemed clearly incorrect by the customer, then being sent letters threatening to disconnect their energy supply.
There was a review left by a customer who had sent a simple request for an email copy of invoices they hadn’t seen before. They were unfortunately met with hostility that advised calls will continue.
Then comes the complaints about the customer service team being unhelpful and often met with a complete lack of interest. Described by one customer as non-cooperative staff, this isn’t ideal during an energy crisis where people are stressed by rising energy bills.
The Bad – 3-Star Reviews
When it comes to the bad, long waiting times seem to be the common issue facing customers at Opus Energy. Let’s dive right in and take a look.
Numerous customers were left dissatisfied as after waiting to speak to a customer service member, they, unfortunately, were unable to get a quick resolution to problems.

The long waiting times proved to be stressful to many Opus Energy consumers. Even for the smallest and simplest of requests, people are left on hold on for 20 minutes, with some having received no reply to e-mails after 10 days of waiting.
Estimated waiting times of less than 15 minutes eventually became closer to 30 minutes. Once reaching through, the team seemed helpful, however, it has taken several attempts to talk to Opus Energy due to being very difficult to contact.
Another issue came with online account access. One customer mentioned that they were promised access, however, after waiting the access wasn’t granted, meaning they couldn’t validate invoices and other important services.
The Good – 5 – Star Reviews
And finally, let’s look at the good. Just under 50% of customers gave Opus Energy the top score available, so let’s see what the energy supplier is doing well.
There were a lot of customers that were happy with the customer service after being passed from person to person until reaching the right department.

Plenty of individual customer service members were given shout-outs from customers who were happy with the service provided. They seem understanding, polite and helpful. However, with so many complaints about long waiting times, is a good service worth the wait?
