Sainsbury’s Energy is a brand of Eon Next, a subsidiary of the large energy company Eon. It claims to be the only energy supplier participating in the Nectar programme, allowing customers to accrue points for their loyalty.
Founded in 2011, it began its venture into the Energy Market by originally partnering up with British Gas, however by 2019 it had closed due to going bust, with its customers being transferred to solely British Gas. The Fix and Reward Tariff from Sainsbury’s Energy is first and foremost marketed as a “cleaner, clearer electricity tariff.”
This tariff offers a Fixed-rate deal, fixed monthly direct debit, the choice of single or dual fuel, the ability to manage your account online or with the free app, a UK-based call centre, an exit fee set at £30 per fuel, the opportunity to earn Nectar points upon enrolment, and an exit fee of £30.

On the review site Trustpilot, Sainsbury’s Energy currently holds a brilliant rating of 4.6 out of 5 and have over 2,000 reviews. Most customers have highlighted the supplier’s excellent customer service and praised their nectar point system.
In the annual Which? Survey, 8,390 survey respondents rated Sainsbury’s Energy in joint-tenth place along with SSE, Eon and Scottish Power. In general, customers were fairly satisfied with the company, although many of those we surveyed reported they had just moved over to Sainsbury’s Energy, and therefore could not provide a detailed evaluation. How Green is Sainsbury’s Energy?
Their mission is to inform consumers about how to get the most out of their energy and how to lower their energy costs by utilising a variety of green technology strategies. Due to the growing concern about renewable energy in the UK, this is the situation with many of the new energy suppliers.
